beautox me

Beautox Me is a project created by Vancouver based artist David Khang. David used the faces of two actors as the canvas for cosmetic / artistic intervention. In the era of High Definition media, actors who are curious to experiment with body modifications - specifically less emotive facial expressions as applied to acting - were selectively recruited for and underwent botox facial injections. The collaborating actors, Lesley Ewen and Billy Marchenski, then posed for 'before' and 'after' video shoots while reciting highly affective classical texts. The two video channels are synchronized, to highlight the differentiated visual cues caused by the botox-induced muscle paralysis. This project is generously funded by The British Columbia Arts Council.
